Peace (political, chr.)

(Barış, Politik)

Peace (political) in its negative sense is the absence of aggression, unrest, or war, which the state in the Christian view should ensure, but which, in its positive sense, can be achieved only if liberty and latitude of conduct are possible for the people living in the state, and only if internal calm is not the product of suppression and despotism. From a theological point of view, discord is the outcome of the destruction, through sin, of communication in interhuman relationships, and for this reason it can only be overcome if we, as individuals, recall that salvation consists in respect for and love of our fellow human beings, and that egotistical preferentiality and strict levelling down of others lead to discord and dissatisfaction.
